Pleurothallis funerea is a rare miniature orchid native to the humid, mountainous forests of South America. The plant is distinguished by its elegant, dark, subtly hanging flowers – its name comes from their shape and color. Although small, the flowers give the plant a unique, mysterious character.
Pleurothallis funerea forms dense clumps of slender leaves that look excellent in naturalistic arrangements. It’s ideal for growing on cork, thin branches, miniature trunks, and in well-ventilated 3D baskets. It tolerates high humidity and cooler, stable conditions very well, while being undemanding in cultivation.
It’s a great choice for both collectors of rare Pleurothallis and for those looking for plants with an exceptionally natural, “forest-like” appearance.
